Comedy comes naturally to me:Gangster girl
She may be known for her intensity and emotive portrayals of conflicted characters in films like 'Gangster' and 'Fashion', but Kangana Ranaut says that she is essentially a 'fun-loving' person and the comedy genre comes quite naturally to her.
Kangana, most recently seen in the comedy 'Double Dhamaal' that released last Friday, seems to be consciously veering towards lighter films. The National Award-winning actress, who started her Bollywood journey with a spate of serious films, has been seen in breezy roles in 'Tanu Weds Manu', 'No Problem' and now 'Double Dhamaal'.
'I'm a very fun-loving person in real life and comedy comes naturally to me. In fact, I always found intense characters challenging. But as an outsider in the industry you don't have a choice in the roles you are offered. You take what you get,' Kangana told IANS in an interview.
'I don't regret the earlier films I did though - they were fantastic and brought me to this point. But I am enjoying comedy,' the 24-year-old added.
'Also now I think producers have faith in me, that I can do these roles well and audiences also like me in such roles...'Tanu Weds Manu' was such a hit; so I'm getting a lot of comedies,' she added.
After 'Double Dhamaal', Kangana will be seen in another laugh-riot 'Rascals', which stars Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn and is being helmed by David Dhawan.
Asked whether she was more comfortable with solo roles or being part of an ensemble cast, she said: 'I like doing films with strong scripts that I think audiences will like, a set up that will deliver the script's promise. It doesn't matter if it's a solo lead or a two-heroine film.'
'Although it depends on the director and how he positions and portrays you in a film, getting noticed in a big cast is possible. People really noticed my performance in 'Fashion' even though I was not the lead,' she added.
On the personal front, Kangana, who started her career in 2006 with 'Gangster', is quite happy with what she has achieved in five years, particularly considering that she is an outsider in the industry.
'It's very fulfilling of course to see people appreciate your work, but I still have a very long way to go. It was very tough. I still face many challenges, but I am happy with the place I am in today.'
What troubles her are the persistent rumours of link-ups. After her break-up with Adhyayan Suman, Kangana was linked with several actors like Dino Morea and Ajay Devgn and even Hollywood actor Gerard Butler.
'It's not a good feeling when you see rubbish being written. But I'm learning to take it in my stride. I guess it's an unfortunate side effect of the job,' said Kangana.
And when do you plan to settle down?
'I'm just 24...there's plenty of time for that,' a smiling Kangana said.

I own the spot of college girl in Bollywood
Genelia D'Souza, who is known for playing the bubbly, vivacious college girl in most of her films, says she seems to own that spot in Bollywood. The 24-year-old actress, who has portrayed the role of a young energetic girl in films like 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' and 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', says she is offered such roles more than other actresses.'I seem to own the spot of the college girl in Bollywood.Down south I have been given strong issue based roles. But here I don't get one,' Genelia told PTI.The actress, who will be next seen opposite John Abraham in 'Force', says she plays a mature girl in the film, though it looks similar to the roles she has done before. 'Maya (her character) is extremely sweet, cute but she is also very mature. She is kind of a social activist. She knows what she is talking about. She has a clear thought process,' the actress said.
A scene where Genelia had to tie the knot with her co-star John in the film, faced controversy after the priest who conducted the on-screen ceremony, claimed that he had read out the actual wedding mantra. But Genelia, who has been fighting off the rumours of her marriage to good friend Ritesh Deshmukh, says she is tired of clarifying her martial status.'I am a girl, I have a family and I also want to get married. I am bothered by rumours about me. It not only affects me but also my family. We actors have a life, we have a heart and we are lonely and they should get that straight before doing cheap publicity stunts. It is sad,' she said.
The actress says she loved working with John as they share a similar background. 'John and I are friends, so it was very comfortable working with him. I have previously shot commercials with him, so that helped while shooting. John and me have similar backgrounds. We both have catholic background, we both grew up in Bandra, and we both faced similar struggles in our career,' she said. Genelia, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Ritesh Deshmukh in 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', has been paired opposite the actor after a gap of seven years in 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya'. 'One think I noticed while shooting with Ritesh was that we have grown as actors and also as persons. We are different people now. We are much better professionals than what we were seven years back,' Genelia said.
The actress has also made her presence felt down south with blockbuster films like -- 'Katha', 'Bommarillu', 'Santosh Subramaniam'. 'Force' is also a remake of Tamil hit film 'Kaakha Kaakha' and she herself is all set to reprise her role in
'Bommarillu' in its Hindi remake titled 'It's My Life', opposite Harman Baweja. 'I am absolutely fine with remakes. But doing a remake is more difficult than it seems. I thought 'It's My Life' would be a cakewalk as I have already acted in its Tamil and Telegu version but it was anything but easy. Acting in your own remake is harder than doing a new role,' she said.

Suniel Shetty says "Producer's job not my cup of tea"
New Delhi: Bollywood action hero Suniel Shetty, who launched his own production company eight years ago, describes producing movies as difficult and stressful and says 'it is not my job'.
In 2003, the 50-year-old launched his production company, Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd, which produced films like 'Khel' (2003), 'Rakht' (2004), 'Bhagam Bhag' (2006) and the latest, 'Loot'.
'The transformation from being an actor to a producer has been difficult. A producer's job is very demanding. It is not my cup of tea, it is not my job, I know this for a fact,' Suniel told IANS in an interview.
'It is difficult to maintain relationships in this business. A lot of misunderstandings happen and also there is too much stress. I don't think I want to be connected with stress,' he added without revealing whether he will discontinue with the moviemaking business.
The macho actor made his entry in 1992 with 'Balwan'. A Black Belt in kickboxing, he did a string of action-packed movies such as 'Waqt Hamara Hai', 'Mohra', 'Suraksha', 'Shastra', 'Rakshak', 'Krishna', 'Aakrosh' and 'Dus'.
Apart from action and comedy, he worked in patriotic outings like 'Border' and 'LOC: Kargil'.
But his ultimate aim is that people should remember him as a good human being.
'Twenty years is a long time to have survived in this industry. And it is the most important thing for me. I worked with my heart and soul. There have been highs and lows but the day I retire or I get out or I am pushed out - I would want people to say that he was a good actor, but more than that he was a good human being,' he said.
'That's why I also make a conscious effort that I don't hurt anybody,' added Suniel who has been entertaining audiences for the last two decades.
The actor even made a good on-screen team with action stars Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn in the 1990s, when actors had to take a lot of risk to make action scenes work.
But Suniel feels nowadays working in actioners is not as risky as it used to be.
'Now the action has been made sleeker, easier and better. Kids (young actors) don't have to break their bones like we had to. They don't have to jump from the fifth floor, they easily come down on cables or they just act as if they are jumping and the green screen does everything. We did things ourselves. We were men then, and they are boys now,' he said in a bold voice.
Pondering over the present scenario of the film industry, he concludes that masala movies are making a comeback.
'The movies that are being made now are quite similar to the ones we had during the early 1990s. The masala films, with action, fights, villain, hero and the beautiful heroines. It's a nostalgic feeling.
'Though we don't have the real 'villain character' any more, which were played by Amrish Puriji and the iconic Gabbar. Now the actors are trying to do everything in a film. But films like 'Dabangg' and 'Singham' have really played an important role in letting us relive our old days,' said the actor whose next big screen outing will be 'Chai Garam'.

Aamir Khan's search for title ends with Talaash
Aamir Khan seems to have finally found a apt title for his forthcoming movie. The actor and the makers of the film, who had short-listed three names, have zeroed in on Talaash.
Reports suggest that Aamir Khan, who was not happy after his upcoming Bollywood movie was called Dhuan by a section of media, has given his nod for the title Talaash. It is said that the movie bosses along with the Perfectionist finalised it after much deliberation.
Earlier, the production house crew leaked the information that the title was Dhuan but later it was clarified that it was just a working title and nothing was finalised. However, Talaash is a suspense-thriller in which Aamir Khan will be seen in the role of a cop.
Directed by Reema Kagti, Talaash is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie will hit the screens on June 1, 2012.
John to get engaged in 2012?
Post his break-up with Bipasha Basu, there’s been a lot of speculation over who exactly John Abraham’s love interest is. In an interview with Mid Day, he admitted to there being someone special in his life, but was tight-lipped about who.
When asked about his marriage plans, his answer was simply that he may surprise people soon, and we “never know.” Well, we may not know whether marriage is on the cards, but we do know now who his new girlfriend is. Rumors have been circulating for a while that he is dating Priya Runchal, but they only made their first public appearance recently
Bipasha Basu waited nine years for John Abraham to commit to marriage before eventually parting ways with him.
Sources say John is very serious about his new lady love, Priya Runchal and wants to make it official by getting engaged as early as April 2012, followed by a wedding at the end of the year.
Post his very public breakup, the 38-year-old actor has suffered an image-bashing over stories of how he left Bips in the lurch after all these years.
Top 10Bollywood actors of the year 2011
1) Salman Khan – He should be titled hit khan. If Bollywood’s knight in shining armour bailed the industry out in 2009 and 2010, he boosted the box office business this year too with “Bodyguard” and “Ready”. In both, neither the content was premium, nor were the performances superlative, but what helped the actor stand out were the big bucks his films yielded at the box office, strengthening his position as a bankable star.
2) Aamir Khan: What one missed in Salman Khan’s films was prominently present in Aamir Khan-starrer “Dhobi Ghat”. Aamir wowed his fans as a lonely painter in the directorial debut of his wife Kiran Rao, who deftly handled a bouquet of stories, travelling across various sections of society in the lanes and bylanes of Mumbai. The actor had just one release, that too, consciously designed for niche audiences, but everyone eulogised it, saying, “Wow! What a performance! What an actor!”
If that were not enough, Aamir was admired for daring to produce adult comedy “Delhi Belly” and the film’s success further strengthened his image in volatile Bollywood.
3) Ranbir Kapoor: If his great grandfather, grandfather and parents are admired and respected for their cinematic genius, Ranbir Kapoor has proved that he is a true torch-bearer of the Kapoor khandan. The youngster excelled in his only release “Rockstar”, which was marred by a bad script. His role required a range of emotions and he stood out in every scene and kept the audiences hooked.
4) Shah Rukh Khan: Romance is his forte! But this time Shah Rukh Khan donned the garb of a superhero in “RA.One” to woo his fans. Though the film was not appreciated much for its content, his fans liked him as a geek scientist and as a superhero. He also earned praise for the use of technology, innovative marketing and promotional techniques to promote his product.
5). Amitabh Bachchan: Retirement? No way, says Big B. Instead he is grabbing central roles at the age of 69 and this year too he came out with two films “Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap” and “Aarakshan” – as different as chalk and cheese. If the former saw him as a flamboyant underworld don, the latter featured him as a college principal fighting for the rights of students. In terms of business, neither were money spinners, but as far as acting is concerned, Amitabh is Amitabh. He was terrific in both the roles and critics gave him a thumbs up.
6) Farhan Akhtar: When there is a huge star cast, it is not easy to make an impression. But Farhan Akhtar did that in “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, which also starred Abhay Deol and Hrithik Roshan. The art of acting is all about sensitivity, emoting, feelings -and Farhan got them all right.
7) Hrithik Roshan: Usually seen in over-the-top roles, Hrithik Roshan for the first time did a role that was slightly offbeat and closer to reality. If “Kites” didn’t allow him to fly high in the sky, his performance in “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” helped him unleash his potential as an actor.
8) R. Madhvan: An NRI, who belongs to a middle-class family, returns home to find a wife. He encounters a drunken girl, who is not interested in marrying him. But her spirit is such that he falls head over heels in love with her and it becomes heartbreaking for him to let her go with some other guy. Madhavan not only suited the role, but he revelled in it, earning plaudits from both critics and fans.
9) Abhay Deol: He emerged as the dark horse. Be it a doomed lover in “Dev D” or a smart thief in “Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye”, he has effortlessly carried his roles in the past. He continued his winning streak as a confused lover in “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”.
10) Saif Ali Khan: This Khan showed his sparks in “Omkara” and after that he embarked on a journey that showed his versatility. This year he had just one release in “Aarakshan”, which was not a super hit, but the film’s box office performance didn’t overshadow Saif’s work. Critics felt he scored very highly in sincerity, subtlety and sheer screen presence as a Dalit boy in the movie, highlighting the reservation issue.
Top 10 heroines who swept the audience away in 2011
Women-centric themes added power to the Bollywood platter this year and the leading ladies impressed with their boldness and intense acting. Actors like Vidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif gave the industry's menfolk a run for their money. Here're top 10 heroines of 2011:
1. Vidya Balan: She started the year with a stellar performance as a deglamorised, strong-willed simpleton in the real-life inspired No One Killed Jessica, and featured in cameos in Thank You, Dum Maaro Dum and Malayalam film Urumi. But for the 33-year-old 'bombaat' actor, 2011 ended with a bang with her sizzling portrayal of a dancing star, Silk, in The Dirty Picture. Vidya explored new realms to her acting potential, and emerged as a winner, overshadowing other commercially hit Bollywood divas.
2. Kareena Kapoor: Two films and both hits! Even after over a decade, Kareena stood out among her contemporaries with the record-breaker Bodyguard opposite Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan's mega-production RA.One. She also proved her dancing mettle once again with Chammak challo, which went on to be a huge chartbuster.
.3. Priyanka Chopra: After an average 2010, Priyanka Chopra sprang back into action by carrying out seven different looks in Vishal Bharadwaj's critically-acclaimed 7 Khoon Maaf. In the character of a serial spouse-killer, Sussanna, the actress has displayed why she is a National Award winner at such a young age. She will round up the year as Shah Rukh Khan's 'junglee billi' in the much-awaited Don 2: The King Is Back
4. Katrina Kaif: As a free-spirited, independent girl in the multi-starrer Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, as a sexy item girl in Bodyguard or as the effervescent Dimple Dixit in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, this Britain-born girl has been proving her range with every passing year.
5. Kalki Koechlin: With four diverse films -- Shaitan, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, That Girl in Yellow Boots and My Friend Pinto - Kalki has been on a roll this year! Her easy and fluid portrayal of a mentally disturbed girl, a nagging girlfriend, a girl in search of her father, and a lost girl abandoned by her boyfriend, have reassured cine-buffs of her capacity as a new age, commercially-viable actress, who dares to choose different roles.
6. Kangana Ranaut: Year 2011 saw Kangana in a new avatar. As a bindaas Kanpur girl in Tanu Weds Manu, she gave her most desi performance ever. She followed it up with the role of a cop in Game, a supporting act in comedy films Double Dhamaal and Rascals, and featured in Miley Naa Miley Hum, which went unnoticed. However, Kangana's standing in the industry remains quite unaffected.

However, Kangana's standing in the industry remains quite unaffected.
7. Rani Mukerji: Her fans got a treat after two years when Rani returned to the big screen in No One Killed Jessica. As a bold journalist, who gets the public together to demand justice for a cause, Rani delivered an image-breaking performance when she mouthed expletives and smoked a cigarette for the role.
8. Anushka Sharma: There's something that clicks about this Yash Raj Films find, despite average earners like Patiala House and Ladies VS Ricky Bahl in 2011. Anushka's vivaciousness, million-dollar smile and perfect dancing skills have catapulted her into the league of promising leading ladies of tinsel town today.
9. Deepika Padukone: At 25, Deepika has established herself as one of the more popular female stars of Hindi cinema. This year she strengthened her stance, not so much with her performances, but because of the elan with which she carried out the sultry song Mit Jaaye Gum; as the small town but confident girl in Aarakshan; and as the love interest of John Abraham in Desi Boyz.
10. Mahie Gill: Her films, Utt Patang, Not A Love Story and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster this year didn't mint enough money at the box office, but her performance, like always, was well noticed. The critically acclaimed actress continues to choose films away from tried-and-tested formulas, and garners appreciation galore.

Poor Serial Kisser....!
Poor Emraan Hashmi! There seems to be no getting away from the 'serial kisser' tag despite his many protestations and he's back to locking lips in his forthcoming film 'The Dirty Picture'.
If people wish to remember him for his on-screen kisses, so be it, says the somewhat exasperated actor who has for long been looking for an image change.
The 32-year-old actor came to be known as Hindi cinema's serial kisser after numerous lip locks in films like 'Murder', 'Zeher', 'Aashiq Banaya Apne', 'Gangster' and 'Jannat'.
'The tag would never go. I tried to get rid of it, but it follows me everywhere. I have done so many films with it (kissing) and so many people went and watched those films. So probably they want to remember me for that. And if kissing is a great way to remember me, I have no complaints! My audience base is there and I can't change overnight,' Emraan told IANS in an interview.
'I am trying out different things in my forthcoming films. Hopefully it would be another dimension, which would change people's perception about me,' he added.
'The Dirty Picture' is said to have Emraan in yet another kissing scene, this time with actress Vidya Balan. He however stresses that the film, based on the life of the late southern sex icon Vijayalakshmi aka Silk Smitha, takes sexuality to a different level.
'It's a different take on sexuality. Sexuality in my films was shown differently before this. 'The Dirty Picture' takes it to a different level,' said Emraan.
The first trailer of the movie has already created a buzz, with Vidya in a bold new avatar. Emraan plays one of the three men in her life, while the other two male characters have been essayed by Tusshar Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah.
'I play a movie director who believes in artistic cinema. He is one who doesn't really give a damn about commercial viability of a film. He would rather make a film, which critics will appreciate; he sticks to his guns creatively, never budges from his creative instincts of a film and the content the film. It's a very different character that I haven't played before,' said the actor.
'The Dirty Picture', produced by Ekta Kapoor, and directed by Milan Luthria, will release Dec 2, which happens to be Silk Smitha's birth anniversary.
Even though the movie is being promoted as Silk Smitha's biopic, Emraan says it has been spiked with fiction for commercial value.
'It's basically a fictional film. It might have been taken from different sources and it's about the southern film industry, about the actress, her rise, her stardom and her relationship with these three men...Eventually, lots of comparisons can be made but lots of things have been added for commercial effect. So I wouldn't say it's truly a biopic,' he said.
This is the first time that Emraan has teamed up with the critically acclaimed Vidya. 'Vidya is a great actress. Our combination is new. It's a great experience working with her. Every character in the film is very intriguing and interesting; so we share a very different kind of chemistry on screen.'
He is also in awe of veteran actor Naseeruddin.
'Naseeruddin is god of acting. I did a couple of scenes with him, which was a great learning experience,' said Emraan.

Contents of Michael Jackson's final home fetch $1 million
The contents of the mansion where Michael Jackson's lifeless body was found went under the auction hammer this weekend, reaping three times pre-sale estimates for a total of close to $1 million.
A month after Dr. Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the pop star's 2009 death by drug overdose, collectors bid on some 500 items from the home Jackson rented in Los Angeles while preparing for comeback concerts in London.
Two sessions on Saturday at the Beverly Hills gallery of Julien's Auctions were standing room only, according to a statement from Julien's, and drew bidders from around the world. The auction lots consisted mostly of paintings, furniture and ornaments.
Among the highlights was a Victorian Revival-style bedroom suite that sold for $25,075. The set includes an armoire on whose ornate mirror the "Thriller" singer wrote a message in felt pen: "Train, perfection March April Full out May" -- presumably a reference to rehearsals for London's "This Is It" concerts set to start that July.
Other highlights included an 18th-century French clock, which sold for $9,375, a Regency-style desk ($4,375) and "Venus Blinding Cupid," an oil painting modeled on one by 16th-century artist Titian ($11,250).
A pottery rooster holding a chalkboard with a note from Jackson's children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- sold for $5,000.
Only a handful of auction items bore a personal connection to the singer and his family. Most were part of the rented surroundings.
"Anything associated with Michael Jackson is highly collectible," ," auctioneer Darren Julien said in the lead-up to the auction.
The ornate headboard on the bed where Jackson's body was found on June 25, 2009, was removed from the sale last month at the request of Jackson's family.
Don 3 in 2014
While his upcoming film 'Don 2', a sequel to the 2006 film 'Don- the Chase Begins Again', is slated for a release in December this year, director Farhan Akhtar has hinted at coming out with one more sequel. 'Don 2 - The King is Back', an action thriller, is a sequel to Akhtar's earlier film, which itself was a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Don' (1978). When asked how long will audience get to see films from the 'Don' series, Farhan replied, 'Film ki kahani khatam nahin hoti. Just the way Don ko pakadna mushkil hai...same way story khatam hona bhi mushkil hai.' (The story of the film does not end here. Just the way it is difficult to catch the Don...it is difficult to end the story.)
'I made the sequel to the first film as people were asking me if I was making any. Earlier I had not thought of making a sequel...but the appreciation and constant curiosity let me think on the second instalment of 'Don',' he said after unveiling the theatrical trailer of 'Don 2'. The film starring Shahrukh, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Om Puri, Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor. The film is set to release on 23 December in 2D and 3D formats. Talking about Shahrukh Khan, who is also known as the 'King Khan', Farhan said, 'Iss film ka King SRK hai,' (SRK is the king of this film) he said. Wishing Shahrukh success for his superhero film 'Ra.One' that hits the cinema houses today, Farhan, is not bothered by Shahrukh's absence at the promotional activity. 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hain, as he is busy with 'Ra.One'. This is justified. We did not want to disturb him at this point of a time. He is aware about the promotions being done for 'Don 2'... his involvement will
start soon,' Farhan said.

Its a first for any Hindi film to release with so many prints in China. It is also being adapted into a stage musical in Taiwan. The film has already made 2-3 million dollars in Hong Kong,' said Chopra.
The film is also getting a Chinese remake. 'The director of 'Kung Fu Hustle' Stephen Chow is also remaking it in Chinese. My films are made with universal values so they connect with audience all over the world. I am hoping my next

'Currently the trailer is being made and will be released along with 'Don 2',' said Chopra. Talking about Bollywood participation in a festival like IFFI, Chopra said, 'Stars get paid to attend most of the events.
